Wide Bore MRI ( Magnetic Resonance Imaging ) is also called the Open Bore. It combines the qualities of Open Bore MRI and Closed Bore MRI, as it has enhanced comforts like an Open Bore system and high-quality images like a closed bore system. Moreover, it has wide space inside the bore area of the machine with a 70 cm bore opening to accommodate patients of any size. It can hold up to 550 lbs. (249.5 kgs). Usually, it takes forty-five minutes or an hour to complete the MRI procedure, but with the help of this new wide bore only takes fifteen to twenty minutes. Also, it is less time-consuming than an Open MRI. Moreover, It helps to make claustrophobic patients comfortable and relaxed.
A typical closed-bore MRI scanner has a magnetic strength ranging from 1T to 3T. However, the image quality of the closed wide bore MRI is better than the open bore MRI. It is because the magnets employed in the closed bore MRI are stronger than those in open MRI. The closed wide bore MRI is practically different from the traditional MRI scan. The system includes magnets and uses radio waves to create a clear image of the vital internal organs of the body.
