These images will be examined by your doctor or maybe more than one doctor. First, the doctors compare the two two-dimensional images to get a spatial impression of the structure and possible changes. Next, the doctor analyzes the images carefully to see any lumps or other symptoms of breast cancer.
Precautions:
  • Please do not use any fragrance/ perfume before the mammography test. Perfume can leave residues on the skin that creates shadows on the images.
  • The patient must not have any jewelry pieces on during the test.
  • The patient is required to have a pain killer, like Advil, before the test.
If the results of your mammography test indicate breast cancer which can be seen in changed radiography, you will further need investigation immediately.
Some women have pain-sensitive breast tissue, particularly in the second half of their menstrual cycle. The reason behind this is that in the days before the period, the breast tissue contains more fluid than at the time of the period or in the first week after menses. If your breast is very sensitive in the second half of the cycle, you should have it examined in the days following the menstrual period.
